Salary: $113,022 – $136,747 plus superannuation Position type: Fixed-term until 20 April 2028 Usual hours of work: Full time (flexibility may be available) Usual work location: 121 Exhibition Street, Melbourne VIC (minimum 3 days in the office) The Role Reporting to the Manager, Policy, the Senior Policy Officer provides strategic policy advice across the Employment portfolio. In this role, you will contribute to the development and implementation of employment policy initiatives, provide evidence-based advice to senior leaders and Ministers, and support whole-of-government policy processes. You will work within a high-performing team to analyse policy issues, coordinate stakeholder input and support strategic priorities that improve employment outcomes for Victorians. Main accountabilities * Collaborate with a small team to support policy development and analysis relating to the future direction of employment programs. * Analyse and monitor the implications of Victorian, Commonwealth and other state legislation, policies and processes related to employment programs. * Liaise with government agencies, stakeholders and industry groups to support program outcomes and policy initiatives. * Prepare high-quality written materials including ministerial briefs, policy advice and reports for senior executives and stakeholders. The Team The position of Senior Policy Officer forms part of the Small Business and Employment Branch within the Economic Policy, Programs and Services Group. The group supports sustainable economic development and employment growth across Victoria by providing expertise in policy design, research, analysis, project delivery and evaluation. The Employment Branch delivers programs and services that remove barriers to meaningful employment and support inclusive economic participation. About You You bring strong policy capability and analytical thinking to support the development of strategic policy advice. You will use your policy development and analytical skills to interpret complex policy issues, assess evidence and develop practical recommendations, and your strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills to prepare high-quality briefings and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver policy outcomes.
