About the Role
We are seeking a motivated Water & Sewerage Operator / Assistant Operator to ensure the efficient operation and maintenance of Council's water and wastewater treatment facilities across the Goondiwindi district.
Whether you're experienced or looking to start a career, we offer on‐the‐job training, mentoring, and support, including opportunities to gain industry‐recognised qualifications.
The role involves operating treatment plants and pump stations, water quality testing, reticulation system maintenance, inspections, record‐keeping, and general operational duties.
This role includes participation in a rotating on‐call roster and weekend work (currently 1 in 3), with great penalty rates applying.
What We're Looking For
Qualifications & Experience (desirable/essential)
* Confined Spaces Certificate (desirable)
* Water Industry Operations Cert III (desirable)
* Class C Driver Licence (essential)
* Construction White/Blue Card (essential)
Skills & Knowledge
* (Experience valued but not essential if you're motivated and willing to learn)
* Operation of water/wastewater treatment processes
* Water testing and laboratory procedures
* Pump station operations and reticulation systems
* Chemical dosing and safety procedures
* Ability to use tools, equipment, and computer systems (Outlook, Word, Excel)
* Strong record‐keeping and communication skills
Employment Conditions
* Permanent full‐time, 38 hours/week
* Four weeks annual leave, 15 days personal leave, monthly RDO
* Superannuation up to 12.5% (if employee contributes)
* Pay range – Level 5 to Level 8 ($34.71 to $37.35 per hour + allowances)
