As a Psychologist at Oakey Health Centre, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team supporting the diverse mental health needs of Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel. Referrals come from a variety of sources including the member, medical team, and Command, providing a wide range of presentations and support requests.
You will conduct initial intake and assessment with flexibility to meet presenting needs. There is scope to use psychometrics and deliver treatment tailored to your skills, interests, and scope of practice. You will autonomously manage your caseload, including oversight and case management of externally referred cases and providing internal treatment. Your role also includes crisis management, risk assessment, and risk management planning within a supportive multidisciplinary team.
About Oakey Health Centre
Located at the Army Aviation Centre (AAC) just 3km outside Oakey, Oakey Health Centre supports approximately 500 personnel and serves as the training area for Australian Army Aviation. The centre also hosts the 126 Squadron (Cougar helicopters) of the Republic of Singapore Air Force. Services provided include primary medical, aviation medical, dental, nursing, physiotherapy, pharmaceutical, and mental health care. The centre also acts as an emergency response hub for AAC. Staff may be required to work across both Cabarlah and Oakey. Operating hours are generally 07:00 to 16:30 Monday to Friday, with shift lengths depending on role requirements.

To be successful in this role, you will have:
* Current unconditional and unrestricted registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
* Minimum 2 years postgraduate experience within the last 5 years in mental health, working in a primary health or specialist mental health setting, conducting comprehensive assessments and delivering evidence-based treatments under Medicare's 'Focussed Psychological Strategies'
* Recent participation in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities in accordance with AHPRA requirements
* Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (HLTAID009) certification
* Knowledge of relevant State/Territory policies and national standards governing mental health practice (desirable)
* Knowledge of the ADF Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy desirable)
