Your responsibilities will include assessing client needs, developing care plans, connecting clients with resources and services, advocating for their rights, and offering emotional support.
About the Role
The focus of the role is to provide support for students with mild to moderate mental health concerns. You will work as part of schools' established student support teams to enhance wellbeing and mental health support available to students.
* Provides professional support and information for students, parents, carers, and school communities that facilitate partnerships in decision making for enhancement of all students' learning.
* Uses evidence-based intervention strategies to support young people experiencing challenges with mental health, and social and emotional wellbeing.
* Provides therapeutic counselling and support through individual or group sessions to address mild to moderate mental health concerns.
* Facilitates referrals to other allied health professionals and services and assists students and families to access this support.
* Supports school communities in responding to critical incidents and emergencies as a part of the school response team.
* Develops and/or maintains appropriate data collection and confidential records keeping and reporting systems for individual students referred for social work services in line with department procedures and policies.
