About the role:
We are currently seeking a casual journalist for our WIN News service. Reporting to the State News Director, you will be responsible for assisting with planning and posting to our social media platforms, researching, compiling and producing high quality news updates. Duties include by are not limited to providing assistance to the Weather Presenter in the preparation of the weather forecasts, data entry of all information and assistance with some script writing as requested. You'll liaise with editors and camera operators and journalists to ensure our news bulletins and online content meet deadline and are of the highest standards.
About you:
To be the successful candidate, you will have:
* University qualification majoring in journalism – final year undergraduates will be considered
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Knowledge of local, national and international news stories affecting the community.
* Demonstrated understanding and working knowledge of media law
* Accuracy and excellent attention to detail
* Knowledge of the social media landscape
* Ability to meet deadlines through effective time management
* Capacity to operate in a team environment, contributing positively to working relationships
* Ability to identify story opportunities, and operate with initiative and flexibility
* Positive work ethic, and the ability and willingness to learn new systems and processes
* Demonstrated problem-solving skills
