Where you will be Working
Prince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Service is a Level 6 Tertiary Referral Hospital with an inpatient bed base of 370. Each year we care for more than 70,000 patients in our Emergency Department and have around 50,000 admissions to the inpatient units. POWH offers an outpatient service and rural outreach service and provides more than 900,000 occasions of non-admitted patient care each year, including innovative virtual models of care. We have transitioned the majority of inpatient units and wards to the Acute Services Building (ASB) including a state of the art Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit. What You'll Be Doing

The primary purpose of the Hypebaric Technical Officer (HTO) is to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the hyperbaric facility in accordance with the relevant Australian and International standards.
The HTO needs to be conversant with the practical application of all diving tables used by the hyperbaric facility. They will Manage, maintain and safely operate the Hyperbaric Chambers and ancillary equipment, including life support systems, in accordance with instructions laid down by relevant regulatory authorities. They will Interpret relevant standards and legislation and provide specialist technical advice to management regarding the operation and requirements of the hyperbaric facility and ensure the safety of patients and staff relating to all hyperbaric exposures and the integrity of the immediate environment.
Selection Criteria
* Demonstrated high level of interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a diverse range of people.
* Mandatory requirements are in accordance with ASNZ – 2002. ASNZ 2299. The pre-requisites for which are:
* Minimum rank of Petty Officer Clearance Diver in the Royal Australian Navy or relevant equivalent qualification.
* Life Support Technician (LST) certificate issued by the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) or relevant equivalent qualification.
* Australian Diver Accreditation Scheme (ADAS) Part 3 with relevant recompression chamber accreditation.
* Prior to entering hyperbaric chamber all personal must pass a yearly medical IAW AS4774.2
* Demonstrated expert knowledge and understanding of the complex technologies, skills, and physics affecting hyperbaric chamber operation
* Demonstrated knowledge and industry experience in the maintenance and testing of a comprehensive hyperbaric facility
* Demonstrated understanding of the principals of quality management and knowledge of relevant standards and practices relating to the safety and operation of a hyperbaric facility
