About the role
1. Lead and coordinate the activities of a project design team to ensure quality, time and budget objectives are achieved.
2. Prepare technical reports related to design issues.
3. Contribute to the cost-efficient delivery of engineering by preparing divisional man hour and capital cost estimates for projects and feasibility studies
4. Develop the mechanical work plan for inclusion into the project specific execution plan
5. Manage and review the Engineering Work Packages (EWP) associated with all deliverables and time-based functions to ensure that budgets and schedules are being met, and taking corrective action if necessary
6. Assist in the preparation and development of project specific procedures
7. Develop and recommend improvements in the design process
8. Review and approve mechanical technical deliverables (specifications, datasheets, drawings, etc.)
9. Ensure that company approved design tools, software, relevant codes and standards to be used on the project
10. Ability to lead small teams and a commitment to mentoring and coaching of personnel
11. Opportunities to work on international projects with potential for site based secondments
About you
12. Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering & hold RPEQ Accreditation
13. Experience in the detailed design of minerals and metals processing plants essential
14. Experience with copper, gold, nickel or base metals is highly advantageous
15. 10+ years in an EPCM environment
16. Extremely well-developed written and verbal communication skills
17. Demonstrated leadership and client liaison skills
18. Strong deliverable focus and ability to plan the work
19. Excellent understanding and belief in safety principles, standards and legislation
20. Strong interpersonal skills, is approachable to team members and proactively monitors team
