POSITION DESCRIPTION
Patches Active Minds OSHC program at North Cottesloe Primary School is looking for a passionate Lead Educator and/or Education Assistants to support the holistic and enriching development of children in our after-school care and vacation care services. Our innovative service model brings together experienced educators and allied health clinicians to create a comprehensive learning experience for children from Kindy to Year 6.

ROLE OVERVIEW
As Lead Educator/Nominated Supervisor; and/or Education Assistant, you will be directly involved in the delivery of high-quality education and care for children in the OSHC program. You will assist with daily operations and support the implementation of the curriculum, fostering a positive, inclusive, and engaging environment for all children.
This position will be based at North Cottesloe Primary School in Perth, and as the service is in its early stages, the contract is offered from August to December 2025, with the possibility of an extended role in the future.
HOURS :
Must be available to work covering after-school hours 2:30pm - 6:30pm Monday to Thursday during Term. The ideal candidate will also be available, or able to roster casual staff to cover vacation care Mondays to Thursdays, between 8am - 6pm during school holidays.
SALARY :
$32-$40/hr depending on your role (lead educator or education assistant).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Assist in delivering high-quality care and education to children.
* Actively participate in the implementation of the Belonging, Being, and Becoming, and My Time, Our Place Frameworks for Early Years and School-Aged Children.
* Support the planning and implementation of engaging weekly curriculum and educational activities.
* Assist with the documentation of children’s development and activities.
* Ensure compliance with the Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations.
* Support the supervision and care of children during before-school and after-school care programs.
* Foster positive relationships with children, families, and school staff.
* Help ensure a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment for all children.
* Support and assist the team in ensuring that children’s needs are met, and their development is encouraged.
* Contribute to daily and weekly reflections with the team to ensure continuous improvement.
* Maintain accurate records and documentation while ensuring confidentiality of personal information.
* Support the team in maintaining high standards of practice and positive behavior management strategies.
* Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
EXPERIENCE/CRITERIA:
* A passion for working with children and contributing to their development.
* Understanding of and experience with child development principles and educational frameworks for early years and school-aged children.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with children, staff, and families.
* Experience in a similar role or willingness to learn and grow in a supportive environment.
* An understanding of workplace health and safety (WHS) requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS/ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
* A Certificate III in Children’s Services, Early Childhood Education, or similar (or equivalent).
* A Diploma in Children’s Services or Early Childhood Education is preferred but not mandatory.
* Working with Children Check verification number.
* Current First Aid Certificate, Anaphylaxis, and Asthma Management training.
* Food handling training.
* Child Protection qualification.
* Valid working rights in Australia (e.g., Australian citizen, permanent resident, or valid work visa).
* National Police Check (within 6 months).
