Senior Consultant – Tax Controversy and Governance – Financial Services
Job may be based at one of EY's Australian offices – *Narrm* (Melbourne) or *Warrang* (Sydney) and is offered as a hybrid role with the possibility of flexible working arrangements.
About the role
As a Tax Controversy and Governance Specialist you'll support clients across Australia in navigating tax risk management and tax controversies, managing client relationships, and working closely with the Financial Services tax team to deliver trusted, high‑quality advice.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist with providing advice to a range of clients, from large corporates to Industry Superannuation Funds, helping them develop and document their tax corporate governance processes and test the effectiveness of those frameworks.
* Research tax administration matters, participate in dispute resolution processes, and help clients respond to ATO requests during reviews and audits.
* Draft objections, private binding ruling requests, amended assessment requests, and submissions against penalties.
Skills and Attributes for Success
* Strong tax technical knowledge.
* Ability to work across tax corporate governance, advise on tax matters, and manage information responses to the ATO.
* Excellent client‑service orientation and strong relationship‑building skills.
* Capability to juggle multiple deadlines with different internal stakeholders.
* A Law degree is preferred but not required.
