Your new company
This is a site-based, Drive-in / Drive-out (DIDO). This role sits within a fast‐paced, site‐based operational environment where strong commercial contracting underpins safe, reliable and cost-effective mining operations. The role operates on 12-hour days, working closely with operations, maintenance and project teams, you will influence contracting strategies and deliver value outcomes that support business objectives.
This is a delivery‐focused role with direct accountability for tender execution, contractor selection and commercial risk management, ideal for a commercially minded professional who thrives in an operational setting.
Your new role
As Contracts Advisor, you will lead the end‐to‐end sourcing, tendering, negotiation and award of site‐based operational and project contracts. In this role you will:
* Lead sourcing activities across mining, maintenance, services and capital works
* Develop and execute tender strategies aligned to operational needs, budgets and timelines.
* Prepare and manage RFIs, RFQs and tenders, including scopes, commercial terms and evaluation criteria.
* Undertake commercial evaluations, cost analysis and risk assessments
* Lead and support commercial negotiations on pricing, scope, risk allocation and contract terms.
* Recommend preferred contractors and prepare contract award submissions in line with governance and delegations
* Draft and negotiate contracts in collaboration with legal and internal stakeholders
* Partner closely with site leadership and delivery teams across 12‐hour operations to ensure contracts are fit‐for‐purpose.
* Identify and mitigate commercial and contractual risks prior to award
* Ensure compliance with policy, governance and probity requirements
* Support contract mobilisation and handover to site teams
* Identify opportunities for cost optimisation, improved commercial terms and contractor performance
This is a hands-on, high‐accountability role suited to someone who enjoys working close to operations and delivering tangible commercial outcomes.
What you'll need to succeed
You will bring strong commercial judgement and demonstrated experience delivering end‐to‐end contracting outcomes in mining, construction or heavy industry environments. Key strengths include:
* 5+ years' experience in contracts, commercial or procurement roles within mining, construction or heavy industry
* Demonstrated experience leading tenders and negotiating commercial terms for operational and project‐based contracts
* Strong commercial and financial acumen, with the ability to assess value, risk and total cost of ownership
* Solid understanding of contract structures, risk allocation and commercial drivers
* Proven negotiation and stakeholder influencing skills
* Experience operating within delegated authority and governance frameworks
* Proficiency with ERP systems, tender platforms and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
* Ability to operate effectively in a site-based, DIDO environment, working 12-hour days
* High attention to detail with disciplined commercial judgement
* A proactive, outcome‐driven approach in a fast‐paced operational environment
* Strong commitment to safety, compliance and governance standards
Qualifications in Commerce, Supply Chain, Procurement, Law or a related discipline are desirable, as are professional certifications such as CIPS or CPSM
