What You'll Do
Join the Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria as a Trainee Arborist and gain hands-on experience in arboriculture management and urban forestry curation. Under supervision, you will learn how to plan and deliver tree care, maintain accurate records, and assist with tree inspections, auditing, and works prioritisation. You'll learn how you can contribute to arboriculture plans, including collection management plans and the RBGV Tree Plan, while collaborating with landscape architects and project arborists on landscape development projects.
As part of your training, you will develop the skills to provide arboriculture advice to internal and external stakeholders, enhancing RBGV's reputation as a leader in horticultural excellence. You will also learn the safe operation and maintenance of equipment in accordance with OHS policies and ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards.
What You'll Bring
We are looking for a motivated individual with a strong desire to learn all aspects of arboriculture and develop their skills in a hands-on environment. The ideal candidate will have experience using Microsoft applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel and be comfortable working collaboratively within a team. A customer-focused mindset and good communication skills are essential, as this role involves engaging with a diverse range of people. The successful applicant will approach challenges with resourcefulness, maintain high professional standards, and are committed to continuous learning and skill development in the field of tree care and management. This position is a two-year traineeship, providing an excellent opportunity to transform your arboricultural interest into a skilled career.
