Job Description
Main Responsibilities:
* Work collaboratively with the A07 part-time PFA (Taxation) to lead and manage corporate taxation responsibilities, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements by developing an appropriate framework.
* Lead high-quality reviews and analyses of complex taxation matters, issues, proposals, submissions, and materials to identify and consider taxation-related issues.
* Provide specialist advice on research, analysis, and drafting of policies, as well as input into ministerial correspondence and briefings for senior management.
* Lead a small, high-performing finance and taxation team, including people management, task allocation, recruitment, performance, capability development, team communication, and maintaining a safe and diverse work environment.
* Offer specialist advice to stakeholders and clients on the impact of taxation legislation changes and contribute to policy research, analysis, and drafting, while ensuring effective compliance concerning corporate tax responsibilities.
* Enhance knowledge and develop capabilities for yourself and your team members.
The Successful Applicant
Requirements:
* Possess comprehensive knowledge and experience applying Australian taxation legislation, particularly Goods & Services Tax and Fringe Benefits Tax, backed by a sound awareness of relevant laws and standards.
* Experience leading activities related to the National Tax Equivalents Regime (NTER).
* Possess excellent communication skills and provide accurate and high-quality advice to facilitate the effective discharge of taxation accountabilities.
* Experience effectively leading and managing a small team, including annual planning, professional development planning, and task allocations and monitoring.
Qualifications and Conditions
* A degree or equivalent in finance, accounting, commerce, or business administration with a particular emphasis on taxation would be highly regarded.
* Membership of CPA Australia, the Institute of Chartered Accountants, or the Institute of Public Accountants would also be highly regarded.
* This role reports to the Manager, Financial Governance and Taxation.
