Role Summary

We're looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Service Technician to ensure our assets remain safe, reliable, and compliant and to be the first responder for breakdowns across the network. You'll play a key role in maintaining essential services for millions of people while driving innovation to improve network performance.

This role takes you across Sydney Water's remote, unmanned sites – from pumping stations, reservoirs to water gauges and focusing on our pressure reduction valves (PRV) – located across our vast network area. If you're proactive, skilled in mechanical maintenance, love driving from job to job and ready to make a real impact, we'd love to hear from you.

Responsibilities

* Respond to faults and support reliability: act as first responder for mechanical PRV issues, while assisting network teams to maintain asset reliability.
* Maintain PRVs and assist with renewals: provide expertise to maintain assets and assist with renewal and replacement of end-of-life assets.
* Manage sites and risks: oversee site operations during incidents and plan with network teams to manage safety, customer, and environmental risks.
* Monitor and report asset health: conduct condition assessments, failure prevention monitoring, and detailed reporting.
* Communicate and coordinate: provide real-time updates to internal stakeholders and work closely with Sydney Water's delivery partners.
* Field-based flexibility: start and finish on-site using mobile technology, participate in afternoon/standby rosters, and travel across all Sydney Water network areas.

Qualifications and Experience

* Relevant Mechanical Fitter trade qualifications, NSW Driver's License, and WHS General Construction card.
* Valid or ability to obtain: Confined Space certificate, LOTO & FIFM procedures, and working near heights.
* Relevant knowledge: experience with pressure reduction valves (PRVs).
* Highly desirable: proven current knowledge and experience in network asset maintenance and operations.
* Ability to work in unfavourable weather conditions and comfortable working with water and wastewater.
* Self‑motivated and managed, with a positive attitude towards innovations, utilising smart technology and adapting work practices to drive efficiency.
* Ability to work alone or in a mixed trade team.
* Someone who likes driving as we have a large area to cover with a small team.

Benefits

* Competitive Remuneration: base salary $118,028.84 plus super, RDO, overtime, callouts, standby allowance, and 25% loading for afternoon shift.
* Continuous Professional Growth: investment in career development through training programs.
* 24/7 Wellbeing Support: free and confidential mental health and general health support via the EAP portal.
* Discounted Private Health Insurance.
* Family First: up to 18 weeks of fully paid parental leave and a childcare allowance (qualifying periods apply).
* Fitness Passport: access to gyms and pools across NSW.
* Novated Leasing options.
