The Company: This growing energy business operates a range of projects across Australia. With continued expansion and increasing regulatory complexity, the company is now appointing its first in-house lawyer to help shape its legal function and support its leadership team. You’ll join a progressive organisation with a clear growth strategy and a collaborative executive group spanning operations, exploration, and finance. The Role: Working directly with senior executives including the Finance Director, Managing Director, Exploration Manager and Operations Manager, the Legal Counsel will play a hands-on role providing commercial and strategic legal support across the business. Key responsibilities include: Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of contracts including supply, procurement, offtake, service and consultancy agreements; Advising on JV and farm-in / farm-out arrangements; Supporting financing transactions (loan agreements, convertible notes, share purchase agreements, SAFE instruments); Assisting with technology, data and IP agreements; Maintaining the contract register, tracking key obligations and milestones, and developing templates and playbooks; Advising on regulatory and compliance matters including land access, environmental approvals, petroleum leases and native title agreements; and Partnering closely with project, operations and engineering teams to align project execution with legal and regulatory obligations. About You: You’ll be a commercial, solutions-focused lawyer ideally with 3–8 years’ PAE, gained in either private practice (energy, resources, construction or corporate teams) or in-house within a projects environment. You’ll also bring: Strong commercial drafting and negotiation skills; The ability to operate autonomously while engaging confidently with senior executives; An interest in the energy, infrastructure or resources sectors; and A proactive mindset with a focus on practical outcomes.
