About the position
The Trainee Water and Wastewater Operator will assist in the operation and maintenance of Council's wastewater system treatment facilities and pumping stations under direction from the supervisor and in accordance with their licence conditions. Work includes assistance in the maintenance, construction and repair of water and sewer infrastructure and/or assets.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist the Water and Wastewater operators with the operation and maintenance of the Water and/or Sewage Treatment Plant(s) and raw water pumping stations.
* Once deemed competent, provide an 'on call' operations and maintenance service on a negotiated basis as required.
* Assist in the operation and maintenance of plant and equipment including, but limited to; pipe cleaning equipment, pumps, generators, power tools and vehicles.
* Undertake administration work as required including recording of daily log sheets, service request forms, incident report forms and maintenance of electronic records.

About you
This is an exciting opportunity to complete a 2 year Traineeship undertaking a Certificate III in Water Operations. The salary range will be dependent upon traineeship conditions. To be successful in the role you will need:
* Higher School Certificate or Equivalent;
* Current NSW Drivers License;
* A requirement of this role is to complete a Certificate III in Water Operations;
* Fundamental communication, literacy, numeracy and computer skills;
* Demonstrated Interest in gaining a career in Local Government

* Trainee Water and Wastewater Operator Traineeship opportunities are available to be complete on a full-time basis, as a 2 year term contract, at 38 hours per week.
* The opportunity to complete a Certificate III in Water Operations (a requirement of this role).
* Salary from $53,196 per year (depending on qualifications, skills and experience) plus 12% superannuation
