Heavy Vehicle Mechanic Role
We are seeking an experienced Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join our workshop team at Lake Macquarie City Council.
Key Responsibilities:
* Ensuring plant and fleet servicing, repairs, modifications, RMS registration and safety inspections are completed in accordance with NSW statutory requirements, National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme standards and Council processes.
* Carrying out automotive air conditioning service and repairs.
* Supporting and supervising apprentices by demonstrating high-quality work, safe work practices and fault diagnostics.
* Minimising unplanned maintenance by reporting faults/defects and suggesting procedural or methodological improvements.
* Carrying out risk assessments for all work performed and contributing to the development of safe work method statements.
Qualifications and Requirements:
* A Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical trade qualification.
* Automotive air conditioning experience or related qualifications.
* Experience servicing and repairing heavy and light vehicles and plant equipment.
* A current HR driver's licence.
* An RMS unrestricted vehicle examiner's certificate or willingness to obtain it.
* Understanding of computer maintenance management systems.
