About The Role
This is an exciting new role ideal for a lawyer with exposure to litigation, particularly in credit, debt recovery, enforcement, and insolvency.
You'll work closely with our internal legal counsel, external solicitors, and lending team to manage disputes, enforce securities, and protect the company's legal interests.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist with debt recovery and enforcement processes, including mortgagee repossessions, and winding-up applications
* Draft legal correspondence, pleadings, and affidavits
* Conduct legal research and prepare matter summaries and present to our internal legal team
* Liaise with borrowers & legal representatives
* Preparation of matters for hearing, mediation, and negotiation, including gathering evidence and working on strategy with the team
* File management
* Compliance and risk management
* Engage with external law firms where required
* Settlement discussions and alternative dispute resolutions
Skills & Experience Required
* Law degree or relevant paralegal qualification with at least 4-5 years' experience in commercial litigation
* Strong written & verbal communication skills
* High attention to detail
* Highly organized
* Knowledge of debt recovery, property enforcement, and a solid understanding of court procedures and insolvency
* Self-motivated
* Ability to work under pressure
Location: Erina (2 days per week), Edgecliff (3 days per week)
