Some after-hours or weekend work may be required, consistent with the nature of DBA roles.ResponsibilitiesManaging the design, implementation, and maintenance of Oracle and MS SQL databasesEnsuring database security, backups, and recovery procedures are in placeMonitoring and improving the performance of Oracle and SQL database serversOverseeing high availability and disaster recovery processesLiaising with external vendors and clients for seamless operationsProviding on-call support and troubleshooting as requiredQualificationsA degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experienceProven experience with Oracle and SQL Server database administration in a medium-to-large organizationOracle Database Appliance and Oracle KVM Virtualization experience would be an advantageProven expertise in IT operations with a deep understanding of database architecture, principles, and best practicesExtensive experience managing database administration tasks including backups, recovery, refreshes, sizing, performance tuning, and securityProficiency in PL/SQL, T-SQL, and Oracle/Red Hat Linux server administrationExpertise in High Availability and Disaster Recovery, including Oracle Data Guard and Always On Availability GroupsAdditional contextAs a fast-growing and successful global company, Serco's services span across the areas of justice, migration, Defence, space, customer services, health, and urban mobility.
