Role Feature: Build a CFO search desk under a global top biller
Our client is growing rapidly in the US and seeking a Principal Consultant to join their high-performing Charlotte office. Reporting into the Head of CFO Portfolio Search — a top global biller — this is a key hire as they continue scaling a lucrative function focused on placing senior finance talent into PE portfolio companies.
Following strong momentum and client demand, the business is investing heavily in Charlotte, where two of its highest billers are already based. You’ll benefit from warm relationships, existing mandates, and true mentorship — but you’ll also be expected to build your own desk, drive new business development, and grow your client base over time.
The Principal Consultant will:
Place CFOs and CFO-1s into private equity portfolio companies across the U.S.
Partner with PE firms and operating partners on retained and contingent mandates
Run a full 360 desk — responsible for both delivery and new business development
Work closely with a senior leader to scale the CFO function nationally
Build a pipeline of clients while inheriting warm intros and high-quality search work
The Principal Consultant will need:
3–8 years’ experience in executive search or mid-senior level recruitment (finance or FS preferred)
Experience managing a 360 desk with a focus on both client development and delivery
Proven ability to win new business and grow a client portfolio
Confidence engaging senior stakeholders within PE funds and their portfolio companies
Strong commercial drive and ambition to build a high-performing desk
The Principal Consultant will benefit from:
$75,000–$90,000 base salary + 40–50% commission structure
