Wharf One Food & Wine is a landmark dining and events venue located on the stunning Darwin Waterfront. Known for our vibrant atmosphere, premium location, and consistently high-quality food, we are seeking an experienced and passionate Head Chef to lead our kitchen and elevate our culinary offering.
This is a senior leadership role for a hands-on Head Chef who thrives in a fast-paced environment, leads by example, and is passionate about delivering memorable dining experiences.
The Role
As Head Chef, you will take full ownership of the kitchen, leading a strong brigade while overseeing all aspects of food quality, operations, and performance. You will play a key role in menu development, event execution, and maintaining Wharf One's reputation as a go-to waterfront destination.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage all kitchen operations in a high-volume venue
* Develop and deliver seasonal menus using fresh, quality produce
* Maintain food, labour, and wage costs in line with budgets
* Recruit, train, mentor, and motivate the kitchen team
* Ensure compliance with food safety, WHS, and hygiene standards
* Collaborate with management on events, functions, and activations
* Maintain consistency, efficiency, and service excellence
About You
* Proven experience as a Head Chef or strong Senior Sous Chef ready to step up
* Trade qualified with excellent food safety knowledge
* Strong leadership and people-management skills
* Confident in menu costing, ordering, and kitchen administration
* Calm, organised, and solutions-focused under pressure
* Passionate about food, standards, and team culture
