MC Automotive Service & Repairs based in East Maitland, NSW is seeking a full‑time, trade‑qualified and experienced motor mechanic to work in their workshop. As a Motor Mechanic, you will be responsible for carrying out mechanical servicing duties in an effective and timely manner. Your primary role is to test, diagnose, troubleshoot major faults and overhaul engines, transmissions, suspensions, steering, brakes and other components of a wide range of motor vehicles.
The annual salary ranges from $75,000 to $80,000, depending on experience, plus superannuation. The position is based in East Maitland, NSW.
Responsibilities
* Change engine oil, filters, fuel filter, engine and transmission mounts.
* Repair or replace worn and faulty parts by removing assemblies such as engines, transmissions and differentials.
* Remove and fit differential, repair and service differential and driving shafts.
* Check the overall electrical power of various units such as headlights, parking lights, sidelights, stop lights, direction lights, roof lights, etc.
* Diagnose, repair and replace engine management and fuel injection components, tune engines and make fine adjustments for smoother running.
* Service cooling system, flush and change radiators, hoses and water pumps, brakes, and transmissions.
* Check and repair suspensions and wheel alignments of automotive vehicles.
* Check parts and refer to manuals as necessary.
* Attend phone calls and stock items (e.g., brakes, spark plugs, oil filters) in the proper places.
* Review work orders.
* Maintain and manage tools, equipment and machinery in good condition.
Qualifications
* AQF Certificate III in the relevant field.
* At least 3 years of relevant experience in a commercial workshop setting.
* Experience working with Intercontinental, European and Asian car makes.
* Experience with oxy, electric and MIG welding techniques.
* Experience with hybrid and EV vehicles.
* Experience with tyre fitting.
* Experience working with mechanical systems.
* Knowledge of diagnostic equipment operation.
* Good with hand and power tools.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test.
* Verifiable work references.
