The role
Hazara Meats Wholesaler Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced and physically capable Full-Time Butcher to join our team. This role involves working with whole carcasses, breaking and preparing meat to customer specifications, and handling the collection and delivery of meat products.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Cutting, trimming, deboning, and preparing meat products to required quality standards
- Portioning and packaging meat products for retail sale
- Preparing and displaying meat products in accordance with business requirements
- Operating commercial meat cutting equipment and tools safely and efficiently
- Maintaining strict food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards at all times
- Managing stock levels, product storage, labeling, and rotation (FIFO method)
- Assisting customers with product selection and providing service when required
- Ensuring work areas, equipment, and tools are cleaned and sanitised daily
- Following workplace health and safety procedures
- Working both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
Skills and Experience Required
- Minimum 2 years' experience as a butcher (4+ years highly regarded)
- Demonstrated experience in meat cutting, trimming, deboning, and preparation
- Experience using commercial cutting machines and butchery equipment
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards
- Experience in stock control and storage procedures
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Reliable, hardworking, and safety-focused attitude
- Valuable communication and customer service skills
- Must be physically fit and capable of lifting whole carcasses up to 60 and egg boxes up to 30kg
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong understanding of workplace health and safety standards
