SYPAQ is seeking a Software Engineer to join our team for a long term opportunity commencing in March based at DSTG Edinburgh. Working within Defence you will apply your expertise in software engineering to design, build and maintain high-performance applications to assist in the modernisation and enhancement of Electronic Warfare Capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform all activities associated with the design, development, implementation, maintenance, configuration management and quality control of software for scientific/engineering applications.
* Define system and software requirements.
* Analyse customer requirements and translate them into a design.
* Work with Agile development tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket/Git to manage work and collaborate with your team.
* Design, develop, test, and deploy software solutions for customers.
* Contribute to the front-end, GUI development, back-end, and database architecture, ensuring integration and compliance with Defence policies.
* Determine software maintainability and overall adherence to user requirements and industry/Defence standards.
* Generate/update documents defining software baselines.
* Explore new areas or program in new languages to deliver solutions.
About You
* Minimum Current NV1 Security Clearance (NV2 Preferred)
* Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering, software engineering, computer science, or related field.
* 3-7 years of experience in software development, and software modernization.
* Familiarity with modern programming languages including Python, C++, Java and JavaScript.
* Experience with full stack development and deployment (GUI development, databases, integration APIs, Docker, Kubernetes).
