Location: Council Centre

Employment status: Fixed term for one year (Maternity Leave Cover)

Classification: Municipal Officer Level 5

Agreement: Hobart City Council Enterprise Agreement 2024

Salary range: $119,423 - $122,285 per annum + 13.5% superannuation

About The Role

The role contributes to the City by leading a range of Smart Economy initiatives aligned with strategic priorities, such as local activations, grants, events, minor infrastructure projects, and business support programs to boost city visitation, strengthen the local economy, and showcase the City's competitive advantages and public-facing technologies.
* Develop and manage strategic projects that support economic growth, including investment attraction, business support, and smart city activations.
* Cultivate relationships with government agencies, community stakeholders, and international partners to promote Hobart as a destination for sustainable investment.
* Conduct research and data analysis to identify trends and evaluate the impact of economic initiatives.
* Provide expert advice on policy development, infrastructure planning, and technology integration to enhance city amenities and commercial viability.
* Collaborate across Council teams to deliver minor capital works, grants programs, and public-facing technology projects.

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Project Manager to lead initiatives that attract investment, support local businesses, and drive smart city innovation.

This role is offered as a maternity leave cover and is central to delivering the City's economic development agenda and enhancing Hobart's reputation as a vibrant, resilient, and forward-thinking city.

* Bachelor Degree or higher in Marketing and Communications, Business, Economics, Public Policy, Project Management or a related field, along with relevant work experience.
* A current Driver's Licence.
* Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (must be current).
* Extensive experience in stakeholder engagement and the use of promotional strategies to identify and address issues, gaps, and opportunities.
* Demonstrated ability to deliver business support programs and implement smart technology infrastructure, with strong skills in project management and contract oversight to ensure the timely and effective execution of complex initiatives.
