Reports To: Regional Head of Sales / Country Director
Overview The Market Development Manager is responsible for identifying and onboarding credible new sellers and promoting competitive commercial products for export via the platform. This role is key to driving transactional growth, increasing customer engagement, and ensuring the portfolio meets the highest standards of quality and service. You will represent in the Australian market, driving local seller partnerships and building our ecosystem of buyers and sellers across key foodstuff categories.
Key Responsibilities Identify, recruit, and onboard credible sellers using direct sales and referral strategies. Develop strong partnerships that support a sustainable and profitable seller base. Ensure all sellers meet international and quality and service requirements. Achieve KPIs including seller onboarding, new customer conversion, product portfolio competitiveness, revenue growth, and budgeted profit margins. Drive growth in product categories such as seafood, meat, fresh produce, and other key foodstuff exports. Foster strong relationships with buyers to increase engagement and share of wallet. Conduct regular visits and check-ins to gather feedback and identify service improvements. Develop account plans for key relationships and maintain an effective CRM system for all deal tracking. 4. Local Market Development Actively promote the brand by attending relevant conferences, trade shows, and networking events. Manage local marketing initiatives and contribute feedback to central teams to improve product-market fit. 5. Operational Excellence & Compliance Monitor the portfolio and proactively identify market trends, risks, and opportunities. Ensure timely completion of account reviews and updates to CRM/database systems. Adhere to company compliance policies and fulfil all documentation and reporting requirements. Knowledge & Experience Required 3–5 years in procurement, sales, or business development within food export, FMCG, or related industries. Proven experience with e-commerce or digital trading platforms. Deep knowledge of foodstuff export categories (seafood, meats, fruits, vegetables). Solid grasp of export finance, international logistics, customs, and buyer-seller payment cycles. Demonstrated success managing large product portfolios across brands and sales channels. Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in marketing, Business Administration, Supply Chain, or related field. Exceptional communication and networking skills. Commercially savvy, intuitive, and independent with a strong entrepreneurial spirit. Excellent CRM, reporting, and organizational abilities.
