Role Description
The role is for an experienced engineer who has spent years mastering the craft of building enterprise‐grade applications and has now seen the shift happening in the world. You have embraced AI. You are already using tools like Claude Code and other agentic development platforms to dramatically increase your output. You understand how to 10x, and potentially 100x, your own capability by combining deep software engineering experience with the newest AI tooling. This role is not just about writing code faster. We are looking for someone who can understand business context, identify operational problems, architect solutions and then build software that works in the real world.
You will design, build and optimise scalable back‐end systems for AI applications. You will architect agentic solutions that integrate cleanly into existing business systems. You will contribute to enterprise‐grade application design, system integrations, workflow automation and AI agent deployment across a wide variety of projects in Australia and abroad. You will work shoulder to shoulder with operators, engineers and commercial teams to turn complex business problems into practical, elegant and scalable software solutions. This is hands‐on frontier work for someone who thinks commercially, loves solving real problems and wants to help re‐engineer legacy businesses for the future with AI.
What You Will Be Doing
* Designing, building and deploying enterprise‐grade AI and agentic software applications
* Architecting scalable back‐end systems and integrations across business platforms
* Using modern AI coding tools to dramatically accelerate development without compromising quality
* Translating business problems into technical solutions that create measurable outcomes
* Building AI agents that automate repeatable work across real business workflows
* Working across discovery, solution architecture, development, deployment and optimisation
* Collaborating with a high‐performance team of operators, engineers and business builders
* Reviewing code, troubleshooting issues and maintaining a high standard of technical quality
* Helping shape the engineering culture, standards and delivery approach as we scale
Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for an engineer who has been around long enough to know what great software looks like, but is forward‐thinking enough to know the way software is built has changed forever. You may have come from an enterprise software environment, a high‐scale technology business, consulting, SaaS or product engineering. You understand architecture, quality, reliability, security and scalability. More importantly, you have already made the leap into agentic development. You are not waiting to see what happens with AI. You are experimenting, building, improving and pushing the tools as far as they can go. You are commercially minded, curious, practical and highly capable. You can sit in front of a business problem, understand what is really going on and design a solution that works technically and commercially.
Qualifications and Experience
* Strong foundation in Computer Science, Software Engineering and Object‐Oriented Programming
* Significant experience in software development, ideally across enterprise‐grade applications
* Deep capability in back‐end web development and scalable system architecture
* Proven ability to design, build and deploy high‐quality software applications
* Strong understanding of APIs, integrations, data flows and modern cloud‐based systems
* Hands‐on experience with AI coding tools such as Claude Code or similar agentic development platforms
* Ability to use AI tools to accelerate software development while maintaining high engineering standards
* Strong problem‐solving ability with a practical, commercial mindset
* Ability to understand business context and translate it into technical architecture
* Experience working collaboratively across technical and non‐technical teams
* Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
* Familiarity with AI agents, automation, LLMs and business system integration is highly regarded
