About the Hospital and Mental Health Service
This position is associated with a large referral hospital in Far North Queensland, servicing a population of over 250,000 people. The service provides quality public health and clinical interventions that are evidence-based and reflect contemporary best practices. The health service emphasizes emerging technology, excellence in healthcare, teaching, research, and empowerment of mentally ill individuals.
Quality mental health services are delivered across various settings including a 38-bed Acute Adult Mental Health Unit, a 10-bed Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit, a 12-bed (sub-acute) Adult Unit, and a 20-bed Community Care Unit. Dedicated multidisciplinary teams provide services at more than 30 regional, rural, and remote facilities across a geographical area of 142,900 square kilometres.
About The Role
This role involves collaborating with clinicians and service providers to deliver high-quality mental health services to residents across Cairns and the surrounding hinterland region. Responsibilities include providing clinical leadership, driving best practice inpatient and community mental health and ATOD assessment and management programs, overseeing clinical governance, participating in service planning, and delivering education and training to junior staff and students. Maintaining personal clinical and professional development is also essential.
