Primary objective
Provide postgraduate medical education services to staff of RDPH and Top End Region Health Services with the objective of enhancing
the education, training and assessment of prevocational medical officers and promoting an environment conducive to junior doctor
learning.

Context statement
The Medical Education Unit provides an accredited training program for prevocational medical officers under the Medical Board of
Australia’s Prevocational Education and Training Program. The successful applicant will facilitate the establishment, implementation and
evaluation of a robust education program facilitating competence and compliance with all essential and organisational training
requirements.

Key duties and responsibilities
1. In conjunction with the Director/’s of Clinical Training, implement and facilitate education, training, and assessment programs, to

support the educational needs of junior medical staff within RDPH and Top End Region Health Service.
2. Collaborates in the development and implementation of educational support for policy implementation.
3. Participate and develop educational, training, assessment and support structures including the induction and orientation for junior

medical officers.
4. Design, develop, implement, evaluate, and continuously improve adult learning, training, and assessment to meet the needs of clients

and stakeholders within TERHS.
5. Lead best practice in contemporary adult learning including successfully managing projects and initiatives including influencing and

engaging with trainers and stakeholders to achieve results.
6. Work in collaboration with the Director/’s of Clinical Training and Postgraduate Medical Council (PMC) to:

a. Prepare documentation for the maintenance of or attaining accreditation of prevocational terms/rotations.
b. Develop, implement, and evaluate appropriate enhancements and changes to hospital programs.

7. Evaluate educational and training programs for junior medical officers through assessment, critiques, and recommendation of
professional and educational impacts of hospital projects.

8. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in
order to ensure high quality, safe services, and workplaces.

Selection criteria
Essential
1. Extensive knowledge and current practical experience in the design, development, and continuous improvement of quality adult

learning which is linked to the achievement of strategic organisational training objectives.
2. Extensive knowledge and experience in monitoring and leading quality and compliance in an accredited training environment, including

the ability to report against curriculums and training framework.
3. High level of self-management, including the ability to work under pressure, with advanced organisational and project management

skills, including the ability to develop project plans, report on projects and see projects through to completion.
4. Participate in the development and maintenance of information recording and storage systems to meet internal and external reporting

requirements.
5. Highly developed interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, with the ability to consult, collaborate and negotiate effectively

with a diverse range of stakeholders, including partnerships with training regulatory bodies, NT Health staff, and other external
stakeholders.

6. Expert level knowledge of AHRPA pathways and supervision requirements, prevocational accreditation, and term supervision.

Desirable
1. Relevant Tertiary or high-level vocational qualification in adult education, human resource development, or health-related discipline.
2. Knowledge of eLearning and flexible delivery of training and assessment.
