SGS has a excellent opportunity for a Geochemistry Laboratory Manager join our relief pool.
This is a FIFO position travelling to our various onsite Laboratories:
Responsibilities include, however not limited to:
- Keep clients informed on progress of samples and answer queries.
- Manage priorities and monitor progress to ensure timeliness and quality of results.
- Maintain appropriate staff levels and encourage enhancement of skills.
- Ensure adequate organisational structure is in place.
- Ensure staff training and records are kept.
- Responsible for quality and accuracy of results.
- Provide regular management and quality reports.
- Maintain Quality Management System and Laboratory Manuals.
- Ensure equipment is adequately maintained.
- Maintain and improve own knowledge to be able to contribute towards progression of the laboratory.
- Responsibility for P&L; whilst working within a defined budget.
- Contribute to setting operating and capex budget
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- Professional qualifications in chemistry or a related discipline or equivalent demonstrable experience
- Experience in geochemistry laboratory work and chemical knowledge
- Basic understanding of computer applications
- Experience in supervising staff
- Demonstrated experience in administration
- Competent in using CCLAS LIMS
- Knowledge of Company Quality Systems
- Basic business finance understanding
