Engineering Operations Technician, Data Center Engineering Operations

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we're the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS Data Centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we're looking for talented people who want to help.

You'll interface with a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You'll collaborate across AWS to deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. Key job responsibilities

* Role location: Melbourne, VIC
* Application dates: 3 Dec 2025 - 31 Dec 2025
* Full‑time, permanent role
* Salary range: AUD 90,000 – 100,000
* Participate in a 24/7 rotating shift pattern
* Undertake and support management of routine maintenance and emergency service of critical systems (switch‑gear, generators, UPS, power distribution, chillers, cooling towers, computer room air handlers, building monitoring, fire systems, etc.)
* Installation of new rack capacity and provisioning of power/cooling
* On‑site management of contractors and vendors, ensuring all work complies with established practices, procedures and local legislation
* Establish performance benchmarks, conduct analyses and prepare reports and documentation of all critical facility infrastructure operations and maintenance; manage facility assets
* Generate change management requests and incident tickets for all facility‑related events (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) and assist in resolution of infrastructure engineering issues
* Collaborate with data center IT managers and other leaders to coordinate day‑to‑day operations, projects, capacity management, and optimize plant safety, performance, reliability, sustainability and efficiency
* Drive and implement projects to increase current facility capacity, efficiency, sustainability and reliability; assist in design, implementation, commissioning and build‑out of new data center facilities

* Attend operational meetings to foster awareness of important activities across the Melbourne data centre region
* Mentor and develop less experienced engineering operations technicians
* Plan and schedule maintenance activities for critical infrastructure
* Collaborate on solving complex engineering problems impacting critical infrastructure
* Collaborate with other AWS data centre regions globally

Basic Qualifications

* 2+ years of electrical or mechanical experience


Preferred Qualifications

* Experience in a data center or other critical environment
