The Opportunity
The Sustainable Landscapes Officer (Soil) is responsible for soil sampling and gathering the pre-sampling information that aligns with the CSIRO national soil monitoring sampling procedure. The role provides high level advice on testing and monitoring of soils, and on interpretation of soil test data to support best practice land management decision making. The role will also work with farming system groups, industry groups and land managers, including establishing and coordinating the management of field trial and demonstration sites showing innovative and best practice management to optimise soil and landscape health. This includes collaborating with soil experts in other regions.

Special Conditions
* Position is based at Mount Gambier or Naracoorte
* A current minimum class C driver's licence and willingness and ability to safely operate a 4WD is required
* Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory criminal history check
* Will have the opportunity to participate in fire management or associated duties
* Some out of hours work and intrastate travel involving overnight absences from home may be required
* Required to work alone in a field environment, including working in adverse weather conditions from time to time
* Required to participate in the LC Landscape Board's Performance Development and Review Program
