Senior Engineer - Structural
About The Role
This is a fixed‐term position until 8 January 2027. The Senior Engineer – Structural reports to the Manager – Superloads, sits within Heavy Vehicle Operational Access and uses structural engineering expertise to assess complex superload heavy vehicle applications.
The incumbent provides technical expertise and sound advice to support junior team members in relation to complex structural assessments. They apply project management skills to coordinate planning, work scheduling and resource management for the assessment of superload heavy vehicle applications. They also manage and lead continuous‐improvement projects that enhance heavy‐vehicle assessment practices.
The incumbent builds strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure outcomes that safely maximise the utilisation of structure and meet the needs of the applicant, contributing to the discipline Community of Practice.
Key Selection Criteria
* Strong technical knowledge in assessing complex heavy‐vehicle access applications and determining asset performance requirements.
* Sound critical‐thinking and problem‐solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
* Effective project delivery skills, including planning, monitoring progress and taking corrective action.
* Strong stakeholder management to build relationships and address issues constructively.
Qualifications and Experience
* Tertiary qualification in Engineering and relevant workplace experience.
* Driver's licence.
* Potential evening or weekend work, including occasional overnight travel.

Position Accountabilities
Stakeholder communication and project management to plan, coordinate and deliver projects within scope. Exercise professional judgement to influence outcomes and ensure successful delivery. Undertake structural load assessments and analyse bridges and road structures to maximise safe asset utilisation, providing advice on necessary restrictions.
