We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety Engineering Team Lead to join our team.
Job Description:
As a Safety Engineering Team Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing the system safety program to support and contribute to the development of the seaworthiness assurance case for the Hobart Class (DDG) ships. You will lead the safety engineering team in the development and conduct of the system safety program, providing leadership to the team, coaching and developing personnel, ensuring services provided meet business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee the system safety program to support and contribute to the development of the seaworthiness assurance case for the Hobart Class (DDG) ships.
* Lead the safety engineering team in the development and conduct of the system safety program.
* Provide leadership to the team, coach and develop personnel, ensuring services provided meet business objectives.
* Establish effective consultation and communication mechanisms with customers, internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that stakeholders are fully engaged and establishing good relationships.
* Plan safety engineering deliverables, ensuring the team is adequately tasked and support them to achieve their goals.
* Provide program reporting on system safety program status including risks, issues, open actions and resourcing.
* Drive culture of systems safety engineering practice, efficiency and continuous improvement.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Extensive product/system safety engineering experience and project planning experience.
* A tertiary engineering degree and a relevant safety qualification.
* People leadership experience with a demonstrated ability to manage a team and provide effective leadership, direction and motivation.
* Good customer and subcontractor management skills, and the ability to influence and develop effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Defence industry experience, an understanding of safety acts/regulations, and experience applying safety risk management principles.
