The Role:
The Project Design Manager at GGC is a hands‐on engineering leader driving design delivery across our BESS and Substation projects. As a key member of the GGC project leadership team, you will lead design coordination, manage critical technical decisions, and ensure constructible, compliant outcomes aligned with GGC's commercial and delivery objectives.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as the single point of accountability for all project design delivery, leading performance and serving as the primary interface for all design‐related matters.
* Report directly to the General Manager Engineering, ensuring technical excellence, compliance, quality assurance, and procedural integrity across the project lifecycle.
* Partner with the Project Manager to drive multidisciplinary integration, deliver clear design performance reporting, and achieve "best for project" outcomes.
* Own and control the design scope, budget, and programme—proactively managing risk, variations, and commercial impacts.
* Lead and coordinate all internal and external designers, setting performance expectations, maintaining standards, and ensuring timely, compliant, and buildable design outputs.
Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical engineering
* Very strong understanding and experience in the design, construction, constructability of multi‐disciplinary HV infrastructure projects
* Ideally have experience in the following software - AutoCAD / MicroStation, ETAP or PowerFactory, Primavera P6, Aconex (or similar EDMS), advanced MS Excel & Microsoft 365.
* BESS and substation experience is a strong preference as discussed.
* Knowledge or experience with TESLA Batteries
