Software Engineer – BAE Systems Australia
We are looking for multiple Software Engineers to join our Strategic Surveillance HF Exports Program based in Adelaide, reporting to Software Team Leads. BAE Systems Australia offers flexible work arrangements, including a 9‑day fortnight and hybrid options.
About The Opportunity
As part of our HF Export programs you will work on areas such as UX development, software design and architecture, and signal processing. You will interact with many other teams and stakeholders, have opportunities to travel internationally, and constantly learn in a growing team.
Key Responsibilities
* Support project delivery activities as prioritised by the Software Team Lead.
* Undertake assigned software engineering activities, including rapid prototyping, software requirements, design artefacts, code development (incl. unit testing), test procedures, and peer reviews.
* Actively participate in all Scrum ceremonies each sprint, including planning, stand‑ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
* Collaborate and self‑organise, working closely with team members daily to achieve sprint goals, demonstrating initiative, accountability, and a commitment to shared success.
About You
* Full Stack development with strong front‑end and back‑end skills (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, React, or similar modern frameworks).
* Experience with RESTful APIs, authentication, and third‑party integrations.
* Experience with communication libraries, e.g. Apache Kafka and DDS, in high‑throughput environments.
* Expertise in containerisation, Kubernetes, cloud technologies.
* Strong working knowledge of programming on a Linux framework.
* Experience working in Agile teams, with active participation in Scrum ceremonies and sprint‑based delivery.
* Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain an NV1 clearance.
* Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations.
