The Role
Caulfield Grammar School is seeking an inspiring Campus Head of Music to lead a vibrant Junior School music programme from Early Learning to Year 6. Music is central to campus life, with singing underpinning a developmental curriculum that builds musical literacy, performance and creativity.
Students participate in classroom music, instrumental programmes and a renowned Suzuki Programme, alongside rich ensemble and performance opportunities on campus and across Melbourne. This role offers the opportunity to lead an established programme, work with specialist teachers and families, and foster a lifelong love of music in young learners.
The opportunity is available for a fixed‐term role at our Malvern Campus from week four (11 May 2026) in Term 2 or earlier by negotiation, to the end of 2026.
Key Duties
* Lead, support and facilitate the Music Learning Area team within both the academic and co‐curricular areas, fostering a healthy and meaningful staff and student culture.
* Lead the development and implementation of Music Curriculum and all Campus Music programmes.
* Prepare and support all public (and in‐school) performances.
* Demonstrate an understanding and commitment to the Vision, Mission and Values of our school.
* Ensure ongoing commitment to high‐quality performance by all team members.
* Initiate strategies with others to continuously improve the quality of the programme.
* Monitor resources to ensure the best possible outcomes for all students.
* Manage budgets and expenditure.
* Model and live the Caulfield Grammar School values and behaviours.
Skills and Experience
* Exceptional knowledge and experience teaching Music in a Junior School setting.
* Previous experience leading a high‐performing music programme is essential; experience teaching PYP is advantageous.
* Kodály experience/training preferred.
* Extensive experience in leading the development, coordination and implementation of innovative approaches in Music teaching.
* Extensive experience in leading performance Music at concert and ensemble levels.
* Demonstrated commitment to professional development.
* Current VIT registration.
