About this opportunity
This position is required to support the delivery and enhancement of Council's resource recovery operations and to ensure the waste facility environmental management systems and license conditions are being met in accordance with relevant legislation and Council policy.
Position incumbent duties include resource recovery operational supervision, effective collation and sharing of Waste and Resource Recovery data and other reports, assisting with the delivery of resource recovery projects and contribute to a sustainable operation. The position is based in Beaudesert, but you may be required to work from any of Council's offices (Boonah and Tamborine Mountain) or facilities within the Scenic Rim.

* Supervise resource recovery operations and contractor arrangements, to ensure effective and efficient operational delivery and compliance with Council's Environmental Authority.
* Develop and deliver asset management repairs and maintenance requirements and inform the annual capital and operational budget.
* Actively contribute to Council achieving significant sustainable outcomes through the implementation and delivery of Council's Waste and Resource Recovery strategy new initiatives.
* Establish contract scope of works and develop and deliver a range of resource recovery programs, including but not limited to, scrap metal, green waste management, cardboard, co-mingled recycling, and e-waste. Provide required data and contribute to investigations for Council departments, the Environmental Authority, and other key stakeholders.
About you...
* A tertiary qualification in Waste Management, Business Management or equivalent relevant experience in a similar position.
* Efficient data entry skills coupled with digital literacy including working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite and ability to quickly learn and use different software programs including Councils electronic data management system (ECM) and Technology One.
* Demonstrated knowledge of the waste and recycling industry, particularly as it relates to local government waste management.
* Demonstrated understanding and experience of waste management practices and principles.
* Knowledge of the Environmental Protection Act 1994 as it relates to Council's obligations under the Environmental Authority.
