Salary: $95,000-105,000 (depending on experience) + super + 6 weeks annual leave
An established and well‑respected organisation within the higher education sector is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to lead the delivery of an efficient, compliant and customer‑focused payroll function. About the Role
The Payroll Manager will oversee the end‑to‑end payroll operations for a diverse and complex workforce, ensuring accurate and timely processing in accordance with legislation, enterprise agreements and internal policy. You will lead a small team, drive continuous improvement and act as the primary point of expertise for payroll systems, audits and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the full payroll cycle, ensuring accurate and timely payments for all employee groups.
Interpret and apply relevant industrial instruments, legislation and internal policies.
Lead, mentor and develop payroll team members to ensure high performance and service excellence.
Oversee reconciliations, superannuation, taxation requirements, leave liabilities and year‑end processes.
Liaise with internal stakeholders including HR, Finance and senior leadership.
Maintain and enhance payroll systems, processes and data integrity.
Prepare payroll reporting and support internal and external audits.
Identify opportunities for system optimisation and process improvement.
About You
You are a confident payroll professional with strong technical knowledge and the ability to thrive in a busy, deadline‑driven environment.
Demonstrated experience managing end‑to‑end payroll in a large organisation.
Strong understanding of awards, enterprise agreements and employment legislation.
Experience leading or supervising a small team.
High level proficiency with payroll systems and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and time‑management capabilities.
Commitment to accuracy, confidentiality and customer service.
