About The Position We are seeking an inspiring leader to oversee and mentor a dynamic team delivering best practice environmental management of Council’s natural assets. Focusing on fostering a collaborative team-based environment to enhance biodiversity outcomes, the Team Leader will: Be responsible for the ongoing development and implementation of operational and capital works programs aligning with Council’s Environmental Sustainability Strategy, Conservation Management Plans, wider organisational goals and objectives meeting timelines and budget targets Provide strong, responsive leadership, actively motivating the Bushland & Wetlands team fostering a high performing team Demonstrate customer centric service and positively promote the benefits of Council’s natural assets working whilst with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders Skills And Experience You are a proactive and inspiring leader who cultivates the commitment of team members and stakeholders to achieve our organisational goals and objectives You will use your experience leading staff, contractors & volunteers to deliver programs that protect and enhance biodiversity within the Monash municipality and region You are passionate about conservation and highly experienced in principles underpinning EVCs management that can be applied to protecting and enhancing biodiversity values You have a thorough knowledge of plant ecology that can be applied with practical skills for vegetation management and compliance with Council’s fuel management and fire preparedness program You have the capability to meet the administrative requirements and assisting in budgeting and financial requirements relative to the position You have a customer centric focus that will assist in improving community satisfaction toward natural assets Requirements Tertiary qualification in Conservation, Natural Resource Management or equivalent with demonstrated experience in a similar role or lessor qualification with substantial experience Demonstrated experience in Natural Resource Management principles and practices that protect and enhance biodiversity values Demonstrated experience in leading and developing teams with a focus on continuous improvement Experience in customer, community and stakeholder engagement and leading environmental community initiatives Demonstrated contract management experience Current Victorian drivers’ license Working With Children Check Satisfactory National Police Check Valid Right to Work in Australia Other pre-employment checks may be required depending on the role requirements.
