This is your opportunity to play a key role in shaping the Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation's Strategic Plan and delivering high-quality programs and services that align with government priorities.
About Us
The ODG supports the Director-General in leading the department to achieve its strategic goals.
We maintain high-level communication and collaboration with the Minister's office, government agencies, and external stakeholders.
The ODG incorporates the Departmental Liaison Officers (DLO), Executive Correspondence Unit (ECU), Cabinet, Legislation and Liaison Office (CLLO), and ODG Services, ensuring seamless operations and strategic alignment across the department.
Your Role
As Director, Strategic Policy and Executive Services, you will lead the day-to-day operations of the Executive Services Unit (ESU), including the CLLO, DLO, and ECU teams.
You will provide high-level strategic advice, analysis, and support to the Executive Director, ODG, and act as a key liaison with the Ministerial Office and Deputy Directors-General across the department.
Your role will be instrumental in driving innovative policy approaches, research agendas, and strategic priorities to deliver on the department's vision.
Key Responsibilities Provide expert strategic advice and analysis on complex policy and operational issues to the Executive Director.
Lead and manage a multi-disciplinary team, ensuring effective service delivery and consistent outcomes.
Shape legislative reviews, policy development, and implementation with evidence-based insights.
Collaborate with strategic policy teams to deliver clear, timely, and accurate advice to the Director-General.
Facilitate communication and coordination with central agencies and government stakeholders.
Research, analyse data, and contribute to high-quality submissions and policy discussion papers.
Foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive workplace free from bullying, discrimination, and harassment.

You will have :
Proven ability to build and sustain effective relationships with senior policy professionals and stakeholders.
Expertise in critically analysing complex, politically sensitive issues to deliver evidence-based decisions and practical policy solutions.
Current knowledge of sector, departmental, corporate, and strategic issues to provide high-quality advice.
A track record of driving continuous improvement and inspiring teams with clarity, engagement, and purpose.
