About the Role
As an Environmental Advisor, you will provide expert landscape and environmental advice across major subdivisions and development projects, helping shape sustainable communities while protecting the City's environmental values and optimising public asset outcomes.
Working with a high degree of professional autonomy, you will assess complex development proposals, oversee environmental compliance, and provide trusted technical advice to internal teams, developers, consultants and external agencies.
Key Responsibilities:-
* Review, assess and provide recommendations on complex landscape and environmental aspects of town planning referrals e.g., regional, district and local structure plans, scheme amendments, subdivision and development applications, and local development plans.
* Review, assess, determine and audit Environmental Management Plans (EMPs) and technical reports
* Undertake compliance inspections and oversee developer environmental works
* Provide specialist advice and guidance to customers and stakeholders on bushfire planning, vegetation management, water sensitive urban design and environmental approvals relating to land subdivision and development
* Process subdivision clearance applications for compliance with WAPC conditions and the timely issue of new land titles
* Represent the City at meetings, site inspections, Joint Development Assessment Panel and State Administrative Tribunal proceedings
* Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality development outcomes
About You
You are an experienced environmental professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and brings strong professional judgement to complex development matters.
You will have:
* Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management or similar
* Relevant experience in land development or environmental assessment
* Bushfire Attack Level (BAL) Assessor qualification (or be willing to obtain after successful appointment)
* Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills
* Current National Construction Induction Certificate (White Card)
* Current WA C Class Drivers' Licence.
