The Role
This position aims to support the Operations Manager - South in overseeing daily port operations and security, ensuring efficiency, effectiveness, and timeliness for safe port functioning.
This supervisory role requires the candidate to effectively allocate tasks, provide excellent customer service, and demonstrate a strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental risks, alongside a commitment to safe operating procedures.
Key Duties
* Assist in the coordination of the day-to-day activities of wharf operations staff and engage and supervise external contractors as required.
* Inspect, monitor and report on all TasPorts wharf and port facilities and activities. This includes the reporting of risks and hazards as it relates to health, safety and environment issues.
* Ensure all relevant services provided to clients are recorded and charged appropriately.
* Maintain and operate plant, equipment and machinery within levels of competence and certification.
* Undertake port facilities security duties as and when required, including acting as Port Facility Security Officer.
What you will have
* Demonstrated working knowledge of health, safety and environment risks and hazards and commitment to safe operating procedures.
* High level interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with a wide range of stakeholders including the ability to resolve disputes.
* Demonstrated commitment to providing a high level of customer service
* Ability to supervise and allocate tasks to employees reporting to the position as well as external contractors.
* Sound experience in administrative processes and procedures including good computer skills and the ability to utilise Microsoft Office software.
* Current Maritime Security Identification Card (or ability to acquire and maintain same)
* Security licence level 2
* First Aid Certificate
Experience in a working port operations environment with demonstrated knowledge of regulatory requirements of maritime port security and handling and storage of dangerous goods would be an advantage.
