The Opportunity
Join Our Research Team! This is not a typical postdoctoral role. This is your chance to join a newly established, high-impact laboratory led by Associate Professor Fabrice Jaffré, a globally recognised cardiac biologist whose career spans Sorbonne University, Harvard Medical School and Weill Cornell Medical College. Now at the Australian Regenerative Medicine Institute (ARMI), the Jaffré Lab is building next-generation models of congenital heart disease and cardiomyopathies in children with rare genetic disorders, with a clear line of sight to therapeutic discovery.
You will step into a lab at a pivotal moment, helping shape its direction, establish cutting-edge workflows, and drive forward ambitious, translational research supported by international funding, including the Additional Ventures Single Ventricle Research Fund.
Working at the intersection of developmental biology, genetics and bioengineering, you will leverage a powerful toolkit, including:
* Human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs)
* Cardiac directed differentiation
* CRISPR genome editing
* Multi-omics (RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, etc.)
* 3D cardiac organoids and engineered heart tissues
If you are motivated by solving complex biological problems and want your work to directly contribute to improving outcomes for children with life-threatening heart conditions, this is the role for you.
About You
You are not just technically strong, you are intellectually curious, driven, and ready to take ownership of impactful research. We're looking for someone who brings:
* A PhD in cardiovascular biology, stem cell biology, genetics, or a closely related discipline
* A strong publication record, ideally with first-author papers in high-quality journals
* Hands-on expertise in hiPSC culture and differentiation, particularly in cardiac systems
* Experience with CRISPR genome editing in human cell models
* Exposure to multi-omics approaches (RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, CUT&RUN or similar) is highly regarded
* Demonstrated ability to design and execute complex experiments with minimal supervision
* A collaborative mindset, with the confidence to contribute ideas and help shape a growing lab environment
You may currently be a postdoc looking for a step-up role where you can have genuine influence, or a high-performing early career researcher seeking a globally connected lab with strong translational intent.
