About the Role
We're seeking a highly motivated, technically skilled GIS Officer to join our team.
In this role, you will provide GIS expertise through various programs. This role supports the effective planning, monitoring, and delivery of projects. This is a varied role that includes GIS database management, reporting, and stakeholder engagement. It's an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about applying spatial science knowledge to meaningful projects that support Traditional Owner groups and help lead sustainable projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop, update, and maintain GIS databases and spatial datasets.
* Perform geospatial analysis and create high-quality maps, charts, and visual reports to support overall decision-making.
* Ensure compliance with statutory obligations, legislation, and industry standards.
* Manage GIS datasets, spatial analysis, and decision-support tools for project planning.
* Liaise with Traditional Owners, communities, and government stakeholders.
* Integrate innovative technologies such as drone mapping, remote sensing, and renewable energy tech into project delivery.
* Leading and conducting fieldwork, surveys, and Traditional Owner consultation across a variety of terrains.
* Prepare reports, consultation summaries, and documentation.
* Develop and maintain strong communication and relationships with Aboriginal communities, Prescribed Body Corporates (PBCs), proponents, and regulatory authorities.
* Work collaboratively with internal project teams across all areas of work.
* Uphold Terra Rosa's values by supporting culturally appropriate consultation, ethical data collection, and respectful knowledge-sharing practices.

Selection Criteria
Essential:
* Bachelor's degree or higher in Environmental Science, Geography, GIS, or related discipline.
* Advanced proficiency in GIS software (ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro, QGIS).
* Excellent communication skills, with proven ability to present technical content to varied audiences.
* Proven ability to maintain accurate and well-managed datasets.
* Field experience in environmental monitoring, technical surveys, and audits.
* Current Australian driver's licence and willingness to travel for regional/remote fieldwork.
* Experience working respectfully with Aboriginal communities, including in remote settings.
* Strong report writing, research, and documentation skills.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and cultural awareness.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Respect for Aboriginal cultural protocols and experience engaging with communities.
Desirable:
* Knowledge of emerging technologies in environmental monitoring and sustainability
* Experience supporting PBCs, Native Title claims, or joint ventures.
* Remote work awareness.
* Experience with remote sensing, drone mapping, or emerging geospatial technologies.
* Experience with Float and the Microsoft 365 suite (SharePoint, Planner).
