Senior Legal Counsel, Commercial/Contracts Lawyer - up to 12 month contract
We are representing a leading tertiary education institution that has an immediate opening for a Senior Legal Counsel, Commercial/Contracts Lawyer. This is a contractor role, with remote working available, and offers an excellent opportunity for those experienced in research-related contracts.
The Role
As the Research Contracts Advisor, you will work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure research agreements and contracts are compliant with relevant policies and laws. Key responsibilities include:
* Reviewing, drafting, and negotiating research agreements.
* Advising stakeholders on risk assessments and contract compliance.
* Managing the contract lifecycle, including variations, novations, and sub-contracts.
* Ensuring compliance with relevant laws, such as Foreign Interference and Sanctions Laws.
* Building and maintaining relationships with research centres, industry partners, and government agencies.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* Strong experience in contract drafting and negotiation.
* A solid understanding of the research and tertiary education landscape.
* Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
