The General Psychologist will provide high-quality psychological services to veterans, focusing particularly on vocational and financial wellbeing support. Working within a multidisciplinary team, the role combines direct clinical interventions with vocational psychology approaches, helping veterans overcome barriers to employment, manage adjustment challenges, and build resilience.

Salute For Service is an Australian not-for-profit organisation led by veterans, dedicated to supporting current and former members of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and their families. Our holistic model spans employment, education, training, allied health, psychosocial services, and financial support programs.
We are expanding our frontline team and are seeking a General Psychologist to deliver impactful, evidence-based care tailored to veterans transitioning into civilian life.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments for veterans accessing vocational and financial support pathways.
* Deliver individual counselling and therapeutic interventions aligned with DVA (Department of Veterans’ Affairs) frameworks.
* Provide vocational guidance, career planning, and adjustment support for veterans entering civilian employment.
* Support veterans experiencing financial stress through psychological strategies and integration with social work and financial counselling services.
* Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in line with DVA, AHPRA, and organisational requirements.
* Collaborate with social workers, career coaches, and allied health staff to deliver holistic care.
* Deliver services in person at Woolloongabba as well as via telehealth where required.
* Contribute to program development and evaluation, ensuring services remain innovative and evidence based.
Selection Criteria
Essential:
* Full registration with AHPRA as a General Psychologist.
* Demonstrated experience providing psychological interventions in a clinical or community setting.
* Strong knowledge of vocational psychology, adjustment to change, and financial stress impacts.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with veterans and families.
* High level of clinical documentation and compliance with regulatory standards.
* Commitment to trauma-informed, recovery-focused practice.
Desirable:
* Previous experience working with veterans, first responders, or trauma-exposed populations.
* Understanding of DVA processes and billable service models.
* Familiarity with multidisciplinary care environments.
