We’re looking for a motivated Diagnostic Technician to join our growing team, where you’ll play a key role in ensuring every vehicle meets the highest mechanical and safety standards before reaching our customers. As a Diagnostic Technician, you are responsible for inspecting, diagnosing and carrying out necessary and relevant service and repair work to all cars to meet quality standards and set targets. The role works as part of the operations team, sharing ideas, problem-solving and refining best practices. The Role Lead mechanical and electrical fault diagnosis across vehicles at various stages of the production process Conduct structured root cause analysis (not symptom-based repairs) Accurately document faults, causes, corrective actions, and verification steps Take ownership of achieving high first-time-fix rates on assigned diagnostic work Reduce repeat faults, unnecessary parts replacement, and overall workshop rework Act as the technical escalation point for complex or unresolved issues Provide structured diagnostic guidance and support to the wider workshop team Validate repairs through testing, live data analysis, and test drives Mentor apprentices and technicians to develop structured diagnostic thinking Identify recurring technical issues and recommend process, tooling, or system improvements Apply high-quality, cost-effective repair solutions Complete mechanical repairs through to final validation where required Complete pink/blue slips if licensed Maintain a clean and organised diagnostic workspace Set the benchmark for technical excellence, professionalism, and accountability The Ideal Candidate 5 years’ experience as a Light Vehicle Technician with strong diagnostic exposure Current Motor Mechanic Tradesperson Certificate High competency in electrical diagnostics, CAN systems, and modern vehicle electronics Ability to interpret live data, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer repair information Strong structured problem-solving skills Clear written and verbal communication skills for documenting findings Tech-savvy with confidence navigating diagnostic and production systems Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while maintaining quality Strong attention to detail and commitment to first-time-fix outcomes Experience across multiple makes and models (preferred) Current NSW driver license with ability to drive manual and automatic vehicles.
