About the Role & Team :
The Manager, Investment Pipeline role is a senior role in ASL’s System, Planning and REZ (SPREZ) Team. The SPREZ team has the following accountabilities :
* Models and reports on updates to NSW’s Development Pathway.
* Models and reports on the net benefit of network infrastructure projects in NSW.
* Manages ASL’s interface with NSW’s Energy Corporation on how it prepares and presents its recommendations for building and operating REZ network infrastructure projects for authorisation by the ASL Board.
* Provides system planning insights into tender decision making for both tenders run by ASL as the NSW Consumer Trustee as well as for the Commonwealth’s Capacity Investment Scheme tenders.
* Manages the setting of access fees for generation and storage projects connecting to network infrastructure in NSW under an access scheme.
* Provides strategic insights to the Executive and the Board on the pace of the transition and any emerging barriers to the transition, using data and information about projects and the development pipeline.
About the Responsibilities & Accountabilities :
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Policy and Governance, the Manager, Investment Pipeline is a senior position within the team. Responsibilities include :
* Leading the development and production of the NSW Renewable Investment Outlook - a publication that tracks the NSW electricity project pipeline through key milestones to inform the setting of our tender plan.
* Managing internal processes to ensure the external publication of the Investment Outlook appropriately deals with commercial, confidentiality and probity risk.
* Working with teams across AEMO Services to embed the Investment Outlook into tender and system planning processes - automating and standardizing processes where possible.
* Maintaining a database of the investment pipeline to inform internal stakeholders.
* Understanding the value add to external stakeholders and building relationships to inform external stakeholders about the product.
* Being able to creatively apply quantitative and qualitative conceptual and analytical skills to produce high quality investment and policy commentary and insights.
* Taking a strategic approach, applying critical thinking and undertaking in-depth analysis in presenting clear results to the SPREZ and Executive teams and external stakeholders on the context and key elements of ASL’s system planning and investment.
* Representing SPREZ and ASL and applying strong interpersonal skills and technical knowledge at forums that may include developers, investors and other external stakeholders.
* Managing junior staff on a task basis, providing coaching and mentoring as required.
The Manager works with a high degree of autonomy to deliver their responsibilities. The role collaborates across the SPREZ Team and other ASL business areas to assess, compile and assess evidence to inform Executive and Board level decision making and strategic insight. There is a strong focus on metrics and commentary to track the electricity infrastructure investment pipeline and relies on proactive and strategic collaboration, to standardize its processes and produce a high-quality Investment Outlook product.
People leadership responsibilities for this role are likely to evolve as the team grows in response to business needs, however management of junior staff on a task basis is expected. Additionally, this role models and supports the General Manager and other senior leaders to develop and maintain an engaged, accountable and aligned working culture.
Skills and Experiences :
About You & the Role Requirements :
* Extensive experience in a similar position within the energy or infrastructure industry.
* Extensive experience preparing and presenting strategic analysis of complex, policy, economic regulatory and industry related issues.
* Experience in quantitative analysis and demonstrated understanding of the renewable energy transition underway across NSW and Australia.
* Solid technical understanding of Australia’s electricity system and its current limitations in enabling the renewable energy transition.
* Excellent writing & reporting skills across varied document types including long form reports & concise summaries.
* Excellent verbal communication skills, and an ability to present information in a clear and concise manner.
* Well-developed and demonstrated interpersonal, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
* Highly organized and attention to detail and highly attuned to risk.
