Project Officer

Clerk Grade: 7/8
Salary range: $110,266 - $122,058 + Super Duration: Temporary up to 12 months, Full-Time Location: McKell, Parramatta or Gosford with hybrid working arrangements including office attendance

About this role

Are you driven by the desire to make an impact? Are you interested in working on strategic policy, projects and initiatives designed to support and create positive outcomes for Aboriginal people and communities?

As a Project Officer (Aboriginal), you will have the opportunity to lead and support the Aboriginal Outcomes Unit (AOU) on specific projects and initiatives aimed at delivering on NSW government commitments under the National Agreement on Closing the Gap and the operational needs of the Department of Customer Service.

Key Responsibilities:

* Provide high-level support on Aboriginal targeted projects, programs and initiatives. Duties may include liaising with other stakeholders, sending out calendar invitations, taking minutes, preparing documents, Power Point presentations, reports and briefing notes, managing mailboxes and incoming/outgoing correspondence.
* Undertake desktop research and analysis
* Manage project deliverables within tight timeframes and often with competing priorities.
* Provide secretariat support working groups and steering committees established to govern and strategically advise on targeted project, if required.
* Ability to liaise with a diverse range of government and non-government stakeholders on Aboriginal reforms such as the National Agreement on Closing the Gap and Local Decision Making.

What We’re Looking For:

* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of people, ethnicities, across all levels.
* Strong project management skills and experience with developing and using project plans, budgets, Excel spreadsheets, Share Point and Outlook.
* Demonstrated experience managing a range of projects with Aboriginal people and communities. Experience establishing community partnerships using Aboriginal-led co-design approaches is highly desirable.
* Proven ability to build relationships and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. This could include NSW government, non-government organisations and Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCO’s).

What we need from you:

* An up-to-date CV (no more than 5 pages) and a brief cover letter (no more than 2 pages) which clearly details your skills and experience as relevant to this role along with evidence of Aboriginality.

Aboriginal as defined by the Aboriginal Lands Rights Act 1983 (NSW) is a person who:

* Identifies as a person of Aboriginal descent
* Presents documentation identifying their family’s Aboriginal descent
* Is accepted by their local Aboriginal community as a person of Aboriginal descent.
