About the Role

The Geotechnical Superintendent provides leadership, governance, and technical excellence across Norton Gold Fields' Western Australian open pit and underground operations. This role sets geotechnical strategy, ensures best‐practice application of geotechnical engineering, and provides assurance that geotechnical risks are effectively identified, managed, and controlled. This position delivers value by enabling safe, stable, and cost‐effective mining, supporting Life‐of‐Mine (LoM) planning, and ensuring compliance with WA regulatory requirements and Norton standards. The Geotechnical Superintendent serves as the senior technical authority for geotechnical matters, providing expert advice to Operations and Technical Services teams while leading a high‐performing geotechnical function.

Responsibilities
* Provide geotechnical governance and leadership across open‐pit and underground operations.
* Develop and maintain geotechnical standards, guidelines, and Ground Control Management Plans (GCMPs).
* Identify, assess, and manage geotechnical risks related to slopes and underground excavations.
* Ensure safety-critical geotechnical controls are defined, implemented, and monitored.
* Provide geotechnical input into mine design, sequencing, and planning.
* Review and approve geotechnical parameters for mine designs and studies.
* Contribute to Life‐of‐Mine planning, studies, and Ore Reserve processes.
* Provide geotechnical input into mining studies, project evaluations, and business cases.
* Review and validate geotechnical assumptions used in economic and mine planning models.
* Engage, manage, and review work completed by external geotechnical consultants.
* Communicate geotechnical risks and recommendations to site leadership.
* Ensure compliance with WA regulations and company standards.
* Lead and develop the geotechnical team, including mentoring and capability development.
* Drive continuous improvement in geotechnical practices and systems.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering, or equivalent.
* Minimum 10 years' experience in geotechnical engineering within mining.
Required Skills
* Strong understanding of finite element modelling, including review and validation.
* Demonstrated ability to lead and direct geotechnical professionals.
* Strong knowledge of WA mining regulations and compliance requirements.
* Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Skills
* Recognised technical authority in geotechnical engineering.
* High level of risk awareness and safety leadership.
* Practical, operations-focused problem‐solving mindset.
* Strong communication and influencing skills at the senior leadership level.
* Ability to provide assurance and challenge constructively.
* Competent in reporting, data analysis, and documentation systems.
Pay range and compensation package
* Permanent full‐time role with immediate start.
* Excellent remuneration package with additional allowances.
* Receive a $12k residential allowance per annum.
* Receive up to 15% short‐term incentive payment (STIP) of your base salary.
* Fully covered family private health insurance through GU Health Complete Gold Cover or an allowance of $4.8k.
* Fully covered Death and Total & Permanent Disability (TPD) insurance.
* Pro‐rata long service leave (LSL) after just 5 years of service, and be entitled to 13 weeks paid LSL after 10 years of service.
